CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- Sharon Clark, the postmaster in Carl Junction, says customers were lined up all day in order to send cards and packages to their friends and family before Christmas.
"We're a week and one day ahead of Christmas, and people generally wait till the last minute. So we've had a line all morning long with people wanting to get their packages in the mail. Most of them are going standard right now, which is the cheaper way, but after today, I'm going to talk them into going priority to ensure their parcels get there on time," states Sharon Clark, Carl Junction Postmaster.
Brittany Anthony is sending packages to Utah and Pennsylvania and is using priority mail just to be safe.
"It feels really good to be finally done, last year I was rushing and so this year I don't have to rush," states Brittany Anthony, Customer.
Postal worker Martha Falley says while customers had to wait in longer lines with more traffic today, they now feel a sigh of relief just to be done.
"I'm guessing tomorrow they'll start becoming a little more frantic because they'll have to ship priority, but basically they're happy that they still have the whole week to get their packages there," states Marthat Falley, Postal Worker.
If you're one of those people that hasn't shipped your package yet, the postmaster has a few additional reminders on how you can get your last minute gifts delivered on time.
"Make sure they have the correct address. Make sure that if it's worth anything over $5, I would insure it and we have tracking now, you can do delivery confirmation tracking confirmation. So we have lots of things available to the customer," states Clark.
