Four Women Presented With 2012 Live Well Apple Award

PITTSBURG, KS--- The Health and Wellness Committee of Crawford County announces the 2012 fourth quarter recipients of the Live Well Apple Award to a group of women, Lisa Center, Nancy Miller, Susie Lundy, and Kathy Stuckey. All of whom have recently completed the 3-day 60-mile walk in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer in Tampa, Fl. and Dallas, TX. Live Well is donating to the cause on behalf of four event participants rather than awarding four individual awards.

The Apple Awards were created to recognize those individuals and businesses which have positively impacted the Health and Wellness of Crawford County. The recipients have been instrumental in creating programming or opportunities for people to implement healthy lifestyle changes. These four women are all personally connected to the cause. Kathy Stuckey has lost three of her closest friends and an aunt to breast cancer, Susie Lundy lost her grandmother, Nancy Miller's aunt has battled cancer, and Lisa Center's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and is doing well.

Stuckey says, " I believe research to find the cure, or prevention is the only way to end breast cancer once and for all. I decided to make a bold statement to end breast cancer. I won't stop walking until a cure is found."

The Health and Wellness Committee shares a common interest to help and encourage citizens of Crawford County to become healthier.
