MARIONVILLE, Mo. -- The Missouri Highway Patrol says Katie Wiggins, 26, was a passenger in a car driven by David Birch. Both are from Marionville. Birch's car was hit broadside by the train about 5:30 Monday evening at the train crossing on O'Dell Street in Marionville.

Troopers say the car pulled onto the tracks even through the railroad crossing lights were flashing.
Wiggins died instantly. Birch was flown to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries. There were no injuries on the Burlington Northern train.
