Doomsday Preparations

"People are very curious when they hear about the possibility of everything ending, and the Mayan calendar having been around for thousand of years, it's like wow when something like that ends. It perks up people's attention," says Pastor Aaron Brown, St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
The pastor doesn't dismiss the possibility of tomorrow being our last day on earth, but says as a Christian, he lives each day as if it's his last.
"My faith is just at that place where I just try to be ready no matter what, knowing that each day is a gift and the next day is not a guarantee," says Pastor Aaron Brown.
Many people don't take the 2012 apocalypse seriously because of their religious or scientific principles. Science teacher Bob Wynne takes both into consideration.
"I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'm expecting things to be pretty much the same Friday that they are on Thursday," says Bob Wynne, Science Teacher.
Not everyone is as skeptical. Ed Covey works at the Bunker Army Surplus Store and says he's had several customers shopping specifically for items to put in their doomsday survival kit. Covey says whether you believe the apocalypse will happen tomorrow or not, the people preparing for the end are not wasting their time or money.
"In the event that you over-prep or nothing happens in the calamity, you know as of tomorrow, you're gonna be in a good position. You're gonna be prepared for something," says Ed Covey, Bunker Employee.
