JOPLIN, MO.--- Volunteers from Mission Joplin, the organization collecting Toys for Tots donations, say donations have been extremely slow this year. They say there are only enough donations to accommodate 75% of the registered families.
The organization was also set back by people stealing toys from donation bins set up in the Pineville Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and the Wal-Mart in Neosho. Volunteer Pamela Praytor says there are more families than ever who need assistance especially during this time of the year.
"We've got about 105 families that we do not have the toys to fill their orders, so we are good on teenagers, but from newborn up to the teenage years of age we need more toys," states Pamela Praytor, Volunteer.
There's still time to donate this weekend. They need toys for infants through teens. You can donate at the Mission Joplin Warehouse on 8th and Highview. For more information call Pamela Mitchell at 417-219-6594.
