LAMAR -- Barco Drive-In Theater is raising money to switch from film to digital movies. Saturday night managers hosted "Freezin' for a Reason" to help raise nearly $80,000 for the upgrade. More than 20 cars full of passengers got to enjoy "Ice Age 4" by donating any amount of money to get in. So far managers have collected about half of the money they need for the upgrade. They say equipment is getting old and needs to be replaced to keep the business up and running.

"The film companies are changing to the digital format," says drive-in manager Scott Kelley. "Sometime in 2013 they're going to completely do away with film. So in order to stay open we have to change over to the digital projector."

Saturday marked the first time in 63 years the drive-in has been open in December. If you were unable to attend the showing but would still like to help, you can stop by Lamar Bank and Trust Company to make a donation, care of Pat O'Neal, for the Community Plaza Digital Account.
