NEWTON CO. -- Missouri state representative Bill Lant says the economy and education will be major issues in next year's legislative session. Lant says law makers could take on several issues, including right to work. He says how the legislature approaches these issue will go a long way towards deciding Missouri's economic future.

"Economic development and education," Lant says. "The speaker (of the house) would very much like to do some education reform, particularly for the children in the St. Louis and Kanss City areas where we've got some failing schools."

The 2013 Missouri legislative session begins on January 9.
