CHC-SEK Expansion Project

PITTSBURG -- Right now, the Community Health Clinic of Southeast Kansas occupies abut 15,000 square feet at their Pittsburg facility. In January, administrators are planning to break ground on a 25,000 square foot expansion to that office. That will allow them to expand their services in pediatrics, family practice medicine and internal medicine, among other services. The expansion will also men new jobs. Administrators say they will hire more than 40 people, and are pursuing a residency program with the University of Kansas. That would allow them to add youth to an aging pool of doctors in southeast Kansas.
""Life in rural Kansas can be a good thing," says Community Health Clinic chief financial officer Douglas Stuckey. "Pittsburg is a very lovely community, it's a college town, but it is very underserved as far as the number of physicians."
The expansion project is expected to be completed in 2014.
