Pittsburg Armed Robbery: One Suspect in Custody

PITTSBURG, KS--- Sunday, December 23rd, at 8:20pm, officers responded to Pitt Stop Convenience Store, 902 South Joplin Street, for a report of an armed robbery. The clerk reported that two males entered the store and demanded money. One of the males displayed a double barrel shotgun.

The two suspects are believed to be Hispanic males, approximately 20 years old, and were wearing dark hoodie jackets pulled up over their heads.

The clerk was not injured during this incident and the suspects left with an undisclosed amount money.

Shortly after the incident, officers received a report of a suspicious car in the area. An officer located a car that matched the description and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle did not stop and a pursuit began. The pursuit ended in the 1000 block of East 14th St. where 4 to 5 suspects jumped out of the car; running in different directions. One of the suspects was located and taken into custody. Two firearms were located in the suspect vehicle and were taken into evidence.

Juan Medina, 18, of Pittsburg, was taken into custody. Medina is charged with Aggravated Robbery, Felony Obstruction, and Felony Fleeing and Eluding. He is currently being held without bond.
