Webb City, Pierce City girls win Neosho Holiday Classic Tournament

The Neosho Holiday Classic wrapped up Saturday with several Four States teams and players taking home hardware. Webb City and Pierce City won their respective sides of the girls title with close victories.

The Lady Cardinals knocked off two-time defending champion Bentonville 62-56. Meanwhile, Pierce City used some late game heroics to defeat Carthage 61-58. From Webb City, Mikaela Burgess earned tournament MVP while Casey Heger earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Krishna Merriman made the all-tournament from Pierce City.

On the boys side, Carthage met Webb City in the 7th place game and won their first meeting 62-54. As for the boys championship, Sunrise Christian defended their title with a 72-35 crushing of St. Louis Christian.

At the Division II level, MSSU men's hoops shook off their winter break cobwebs with an 83-62 win in an exhibition game over Livin' the Dream.
