JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin Family YMCA hosted the "Chilly 5k Run" this morning. 408 people from across the Four States ran from the downtown "Y" to the South "Y." The entry fee was $25 per runner with all proceeds going toward the Joplin "Y"s scholarship fund.

The organization uses the money to help low income families get a membership and pay for "Y" programs like child care. Runners say they're happy to be able to help the community while doing what they love.

"I feel great to help people and that's something I try to do all the time. That's probably one of the most important things we can do for other people, is try to make a difference everyday," says Brian Smith, Runner.

The Joplin "Y" helps thousand of families annually through fundraisers like the Chilly 5k.
