Joplin Council Votes to Move Forward with 911 Consolidation Talks

JOPLIN, MO.--- The Joplin City Council has voted to move forward with discussions of combined operations with the Jasper County 9-1-1 Emergency Call Center. The county board first voted last week to authorize contract negotiations at a future date.
The Joplin council mirrored that vote Monday night. The two sides can now start working out details like cost sharing and work schedules for a proposed contract. The Joplin police chief has said the consolidation could save the two agencies half a million dollars.
