Originally, the program was set to expire on December 31, 2012. However, MGE wanted to provide more time for Joplin area residents and businesses to take advantage of these savings and obtained the four month extension.
The Rebuild Joplin appliance rebates are offered to all MGE customers in Jasper and Newton counties and includes rebates of up to $600 for natural gas furnaces, $400 for tankless water heaters and $450 for a combined hydronic gas furnace and tankless water heating system. MGE has also partnered with CFM, the local distributor of York gas furnace systems, and Joplin Supply to provide additional manufacturer and retail rebates for MGE customers.
In addition, MGE provides an $800 incentive to build an ENERGY STAR rated home through its ENERGY STAR New Homes program. This can be used in conjunction with Empire's $1,200 incentive for the same purpose for a combined total of $2,000.
The Rebuild Joplin extension ends on May 1, 2013, so MGE customers wanting to take advantage of these rebates must have a purchase date for their qualifying gas appliance before that time. However, MGE's ENERGY STAR New Homes program will continue indefinitely.
