5 officers will be in charge of patrolling the city during overnight hours, checking for unbuckled drivers and passengers. Officers will conduct this night-time enforcement once a month until May.
"Enforcement needs to happen. That is a deterrent, having that enforcement. Our ultimate goal is for people to wear their seat belts," states Major Brent Narges, Pittsburg Police Department.
Major Narges says this type of enforcement also leads them to multiple warrant and drug arrests.
