JEFFERSON CITY, MO---Hundreds gathered at the state capitol today as those elected or re-elected in November were sworn in.  After taking his oath of office, Governor Jay Nixon delivered his second inaugural speech.  He focused on two points in history: the Civil War when Missouri was divided, serving under two governments and his time as a freshmen Senator, when lawmakers worked together and didn't leet party lines separate them.  Nixon says he wants to present a stat that works together.  "I am more optimistic than ever about our future.  We will put our shared principle ahead of our small differences and work together ofr the common good.  The people of Missouri deserves and expect no less and that's how I intend to lead," Nixon said.  He's expected to give his State of the State address January 28th and dive into more controversial topics, like Medicaid.
