JOPLIN, MO.---- The Joplin High School band Skyped an interview with Katie Couric this morning. The show featured Barry Manilow, and gave JHS musicians a chance to thank him for his generous gift last fall.
The artist donated $300,000 worth of instruments to the music program. Today, the JHS band thanked Manilow with a giant banner and a solo performance of "Copa Cabana."
"It was really cool. It was a lot of pressure because I had to play his song for him and everybody in the country knows that song. It was a really big honor to be able to do that for him," states Emily Watson, JHS Senior.
