JOPLIN, MO.--- According to a survey by the National Association of College and Employers, students graduating in May have a 13 % higher chance of landing an entry-level job than the class of 2012.

There's an uptick in entry-level positions requiring finance, computer science, accounting, business administration, and engineering degrees. The career services director at Missouri Southern says even if more jobs are available, it's still a competitive job market.

"The biggest thing for students is to make sure they're attending career fairs, they're attending work shops, to have resumes. They should always submit a cover letter with a resume," states Nicole Brown, Director of Career Services at MSSU.

Brown says networking, internships and part-time jobs are especially vital for students pursuing careers in more competitive fields.
