Kansas Request State Income Tax Decrease

GALENA, KS.--- Kansas Governor Sam Brownback's annual state of the state address last night asked law makers to consider lowering the state's top income tax rate. Currently, the rate is set at 4.9%, with the governor proposing a 3.5% tax level.
To make up for the loss in revenue, Brownback is proposing making an emergency state sales tax increase enacted 3 years ago permanent. That tax had been scheduled to partially expire this year.
