CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- January is Stalking Awareness Month, a chance for advocates to speak out about potential dangers and help victims find justice.

Carl Junction Police Chief Delmar Haase points out that, while it's a problem nationwide, there have also been local cases of stalking with serious consequences. He's urging victims to seek help as soon as they know there's a problem.

"I think sometimes they wonder about if it's going on, whether it's serious, whether it will go away on its on. And probably in most cases it does, but in some cases, it does not," said Delmar Haase, Carl Junction Police Chief.

Haase points out stalking is a crime in Missouri, and that the first step to dealing with a situation is to reach out to local law enforcement.
