On a Mission for Monica

JOPLIN, MO.--- Rebecca Moore worked with Monica Webb and remembers her well.
"We just over the years became really good friends," says Rebecca Moore, Friend.
Moore says Monica had filed a protection order against her estranged husband Rondias Webb back in September. Not only was he not suppose to have contact with her, he wasn't suppose to know where she lived.
"This was violated, and this ball was dropped in such a huge manner that I just felt like it was important at this time to start, you know, organizing something," says Moore.
So when Moore found out Rondias was charged in Monica's murder, she started "On A Mission for Monica."
"This is not an unfamiliar or unusual story. This is something that you see in the news. You see in the news statewide, nationwide," says Moore.
"Lafayette House supports 'On a Mission for Monica.' We'd like to help further the cause, be it through volunteer efforts or meeting with legislatures," says Keren Lowenstein, Lafayette House, Joplin.
"On Mission for Monica" includes a 7-point petition asking lawmakers to implement a domestic violence task force and create stricter domestic violence laws.
"We're asking that it become a felonious offense if the protection order is violated," says Moore.
Moore hopes to gather at least 5,000 signatures across Missouri and hopefully get someone's attention in the state legislature.
"Domestic violence has touched the lives of everyone. It's in every social circle, every church, every school," says Moore.
