JOPLIN, MO.--- The St. Louis Blues helped build 5 houses in Joplin as part of the Governor's Challenge. Habitat for Humanity directors held a ribbon cutting for the new homes this afternoon.
The 5 homes are located across the 23 and 24-hundred blocks of Murphy, Annie Baxter, Empire, and Pitcher. The Governor's Challenge will build a total of 35 homes.
"The Governor's Challenge has been a wonderful partnership. A lot of workdays, one in particular was 105 degrees. I thought it was ironic for a team dedicated to the ice rink," said Scott Clayton, Habitat For Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity has built homes for 52 families since the May 2011 tornado.
