GIRARD -- Administrators at the Southeast Kansas Community Action Program recently received a grant from the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation. The $300,000 grant will be used for tenant based rental assistance programs, like help with utilities, deposits and monthly rent for people who do not have a home. Administrators say they hope to help as many as 70 households with the money.
"Although we are very pleased to help 65 to 70 households, as providers of homeless services, we know that the need is much greater down here," says SEK-CAP spokesperson Becky Gray.
SEK-CAP is not taking applications for the money yet. They hope to have that process in place in the next couple of months.
