JOPLIN, MO.--- The jobless rate for Missouri's post 9-11 veterans is 9.2%, while the rate is 6.7% for the general population. Although those numbers are lower than the national rate, the Workforce Investment Board in Joplin says the numbers are still too high. They're working to help find jobs for those who fight for our country.

"We actively pursue veterans, especially if they're active duty military coming back recently, to try to put them at work. Even if we can't translate their military work skills to civilian, we try to give them new skills with this on the job training program called Show Me Heroes," said Bubba Evansco, Outreach Recruitment Coordinator.

"Show Me Heroes" is a program that helps Missouri's veterans find work. It also helps veterans connect with companies that have pledged to help keep them on the job. To view the Show Me Heroes website, click here.
