Missouri Brown Recluse Warning

They generally bite people while they're sleeping, and most don't know they're a victim until they wake up and feel the pain. What starts out as a little red spot will gradually grow in size and develop into a dark purplish color, similar to a bruise.
Freeman Wound Center physician Dr. Joseph Newman says it's not uncommon to see more patients this time of year. "Typically, the increase is in the spring and the fall, so we did actually see quite a few this past fall, and I anticipate an increase over the spring time. Over the winter, the spiders are relatively dormant. We don't see that many."
Brown Recluse love cardboard boxes, small dark spaces, and hidden crevices. If you think you've been bitten, seek immediate medical attention.
