PITTSBURG, KS.--- The City of Pittsburg hopes to increase student safety by adding a pedestrian traffic light in front of Pittsburg State University. The traffic light will soon be installed on Broadway at west Potlitzer Street across from the campus health center.

It will remain dormant until a pedestrian activates it. When activated, it will turn red for cars to stop. A study by KDOT showed most students crossed Broadway at Potlitzer and Cleveland, but only the Cleveland crossing has a traffic light. The project will cost about $78,000 with PSU paying for half of it.
