CARTHAGE, MO.--- Jasper County sales tax from the start of the year shows the county is on track with numbers from 2012. In January, sales tax was less than last year by about $113,000. In February, the tax was up. For the first 2 months, the county is within $600 of where they were a year ago.
"There's certain months where you are going to collect that money that was for a quarter and other months that are just for the month. So you're going to have some months that are going to be higher than others," said Richard Webster, Jasper County Auditor.
The county auditor estimates Jasper County will bring in $6 million this year from sales tax.
