JOPLIN, MO.--- The Southwest Missouri Arthritis Association hosts a tasty fundraiser to help provide medical equipment for people in need. Dozens of people came out to the groups 20th annual Chili Feed this afternoon, money raised from this event helps the Arthritis Association buy medical equipment for their rental program.

The association provides low cost medical items to people with disabilities, or to those needing assistance after getting out of the hospital. Through this program, people can rent items for as low as $6 a month. Organizers say it's a useful program that's used by nearly 2,000 people each year.

"They can't really afford the high costs of things, but they can afford $6 a month or $10 a month and that's what we are trying to do. We are trying to help them live a more comfortable life at a rate that they can afford," said Ilene Bates, Arthritis Association Grant Writer.

The chili for today's fundraiser was made and served by students in the Franklin Tech Culinary Arts Program.
