Chamber Encouraging Tax Hike

Updated: January 7, 2009
The Joplin Chamber of Commerce takes a stand on a new tax proposal. Chamber leaders are encouraging voters to say yes to a tax hike on November 6th. Two sales issues are on the ballot. The take hike would allow the city to build new police and fire facilities, and do extensive work on the city`s sewer system. But most of all, chamber leaders say the plan will greatly enhance the area economy. If the tax issue passes next Tuesday, construction on some of the planned smaller projects could start at the beginning of the year.
