Webb City Girls Hold Off Smithville to Advance to State Finals

The Lady Cardinals' run through the Class 4 State Playoffs continued Thursday night with a 54-53 win over Smithville in the semifinals.
Mikaela Burgess led the way for Webb City with 23 points and shot 4-7 from three point land. The duo of Desirae Buerge and Casey Heger in the paint also propelled the Lady Cardinals. Heger notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds while Buerge went for 13 points.
Webb City's opponent in the state title game will be undefeated Incarnate Word Academy. The Red Knights won their semifinal game tonight 66-25 over Dexter. Tip-off is set for 4:50 p.m. Saturday.
