JOPLIN, MO.--- The City of Joplin is calling on local artists to help spruce up city hall. "Joplin Art Rocks" is a new art initiative that focuses on Joplin's landscape. Residents ages 16 and older are asked to submit visual art work that showcases the beauty of Joplin.
Submissions are being collected online starting today through April 8th. After the contest, Mayor Melodee Colbert-Kean will select several winning pieces to be hung in the city council chambers or in the mayors office.
"It's just to continue recognition to the artists in our community that we value their work, that we recognize their contribution to play an important role in our community and to allow those artists to showcase their talents," said Becky Brill, City of Joplin Grant Coordinator.
