MO House Bill Proposes Presidential Election Early Voting

By: Melanie Huonker
Updated: March 18, 2013
CARTHAGE, MO.--- A Missouri House proposal could make voting more accessible yet more costly for counties. The bill would allow for an electronic system for early voting at a central polling office and satellite voting in presidential elections.

Jasper County Clerk Bonnie Earl doesn't expect the satellite proposal to affect Jasper County because there are courthouses in both Carthage and Joplin. She says it could cost more money for other counties.

"For other counties, it would be a real expense to try to set up satellite offices because you have to have computer, internet, you'll have to hire extra people," said Bonnie Earl, Jasper County Clerk.

The bill is awaiting a date for its next hearing.
