Department of Corrections Donations

Updated: January 7, 2009
Some special donations are given to local children who need extra support. As part of a state program designed to allow prisoners to use their talents, the Missouri Department of Corrections donated several handmade toys, puppets, and quilts to the Children`s Center in Joplin. A mock courtroom was also given to be used as an instructional tool. Executive directors with the center say the courtroom will be used to prepare the children for what they can expect during a case. This is the second year the Children`s Center has received donations from DOC. Some of the toys will be used in the clinic, while others will be given away.
