In Newton County, voters will decide the fate of the motel tax. The tax will place a 3% tax on hotel and motel rooms in the county. The money raised from the taxes will be used for tourism promotion. In the Redings mill fire protection district, a $968,000 bond issue is on the ballot. If passed the money will be used for upgrading the Redings Mill Fire Department. In Cherokee County, voters face the Riverton USD 404 bond issue. The issue calls for a $3.3 million dollar bond to be used to construct a new multipurpose facility. The question of a $4.2 million bond issue faces voters in Crawford County. If passed, funds from the bond will be used for building additions and remodeling of USD 246.
