Galena High School students received a history lesson that they will never forget. The high school was the host of the 5th annual Veterans Day Celebration. Area veterans were invited to the celebration honoring them for their bravery and patriotism to our country. Veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War were present for the celebration. After the celebration the students got a chance to eat lunch with them and share stories. Ray Dykens - Galena High School Principal "It`s just an honor for us to do it. I appreciate the opportunity for people to say thank you to us, but we do it selfishly. It`s our opportunity to say thanks you to the veterans whether your here today or not veterans. We`re proud of you and of keeping us free." Almost 600 people filled up the high school auditorium this afternoon. Seventy different veterans were honored for their contributions to our country.
