Christmas is in the air for several local retailers as they stock shelves with extra items in anticipation of the rush of holiday shopping, but are shoppers willing to indulge? According to an annual holiday survey, Americans plan to spend 37% less. The survey says because of the downhill slope in the economy. Retailers say the Christmas rush usually begins right after Thanksgiving, but most shoppers do their shopping the week before Christmas.
