A 50-year-old mystery is laid to rest in Southwest Missouri. The remains of a World War II soldier are buried in Springfield this afternoon. Lt. William Patton`s body has been missing since 1945. Lt. Patton`s plane went down over France during a mission in World War II, but his body and the remains of the plane were only discovered a few months ago. After 56 years, Lt. Patton was finally laid to rest this afternoon at the National Cemetery in Springfield Missouri. Dozens of family members and friends were on hand for his military burial with honors. The flag draped over his casket was presented to family members on hand. And a military fly over concluded the ceremony. Several officers who served alongside Patton also attended the service this afternoon.
