Over 700 children in Kansas live everyday without a permanent home or family. The Children`s Service League in Southeast Kansas launched balloons this afternoon in honor of the 50 local children in need of adoptive parents. Each balloon held the name and age of a specific child searching for a home. The agency tries to place each child within 180 days of being brought into the system. The majority of children are over age 8 and come from homes where abuse or neglect prompted the courts to remove them from their parents.
