By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A former airline giant flies into St. Louis and aviation history today. TWA landed it`s final flight in St. Louis this morning. TransWorld Airlines was born in 1930 with the merger of Western Air Express and Transcontinental Air Transport. It was the first airline to offer coast-to-coast air service. The carrier never recovered after Flight 800 crashed off Long Island in 1996. American Airlines acquired TWA after they filed for bankruptcy for $742 million dollars in April.
