MSSC Tuition Hike

Budget cuts are underway at one Four State college and students will be feeling the pinch in the spring. After more budget cuts were announced for Missouri State colleges and universities. Missouri Southern State College has voted for more costs to students. In a unanimous vote, the MSSC Board of Regents approved a $12 per credit hour surcharge to students beginning in the spring 2002 semester. Cuts to the upcoming budget include almost $300,000 in travel expenses, $200,000 from the library budget and $60,000 from supplies. Current tuition fees before the new surcharge are $90 per credit hour for Missouri residents and $180 for non residents. No word yet on how long the new surcharge will be in place.
