Grants Given to Food/Shelter Programs

Updated: January 7, 2009
Two Four State counties will receive over $75,000 in aid. Jasper and Newton Counties have been chosen to receive the money to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area. The funds are used to help expand the size of food and shelter programs around the country. A local board involving many non-profit organizations will decide who will receive the money locally. In years past, the Salvation Army, the Lafayette House, and Crosslines Churches of Carthage have all been granted money. These agencies are responsible for providing meals, and utility and housing assistance.
