Follow on Officer Assaulted in Kansas

A Four State officer is released from the hospital after being treated for injuries sustained while trying to arrest a suspect. According to an anonymous call to KSN, the suspect is 18-year-old Jose Birrueta who was involved in a series of events late Tuesday night. Those events left Officer Chad Dininger with head injuries. Dininger began as a patrol officer with the Joplin Police Department five years ago. Birrueta was finally taken into police custody a few blocks away but not without another scuffle with police. During this second struggle the officer`s gun discharged, shooting Birrueta in the neck. He remains in critical condition at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
