Lawsuits Pending in Gas Spill Incident

More than a half-dozen lawsuits are pending in Benton County, Arkansas Circuit Court as a result of a 600-gallon gasoline spill. The spill happened on the property of the Coppermine Lodge on Beaver Lake. It was reported January 3rd of 2000. After that, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality determined that 13 wells were contaminated by gasoline and components related to underground piping. An environmental company has removed about 980 tons of contaminated soil from the area.
