Kansas 2002 Legislative Session

Kansas lawmakers are back at work for their 2002 legislative session. Lawmakers are facing a budget crisis. Legislators must close a projected $426 million dollar gap in the budget for the state`s 2003 fiscal year, which begins July 1st. Governor Bill Graves has promised to propose tax increases to help close the gap, and prevent some cuts in education and social services. The governor is expected to address lawmakers during a joint session tonight at 7:00pm.
