A Four State senator secures funds that will help local officers fight drugs. Missouri Senator Jean Carnahan has secured a total of just over $1 million dollars to help in the fight against methamphetamine. The funds will be distributed throughout the state and the Four States will benefit significantly. The Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force will receive $105,000 in funding. Officials say this will provide for additional task force officers. The money will also be used to allow for appropriate overtime pay for existing officers. In addition, the Joplin Crime Lab at Missouri Southern will receive $120,000. The money will be used for new equipment and staff salaries. Senator Carnahan will hold a press conference tomorrow to highlight the new funds.
