EPA Radon Warning

107 of Missouris 114 counties is at moderate or high risk for radon. That`s according a report released by the Environmental Protection Agency. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the US. Newton, Jasper, and McDonald Counties are at moderate risk for radon. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is formed when uranium in the soil is broken down. It doesn`t become dangerous until large amount seep into your home. Community Health Director, Dan Perarek says testing for radon is a simple process. Dan Pekarek - Joplin Health Department "Purchase a kit, it will have instructions on how to set the kit for ‘x amount of day, send it into a laboratory and they will provide the results."
