Annexation Lawsuit Filed

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A lawsuit has been filed in hopes of blocking a voluntary annexation plan. The suit has been filed by the Duneweg Volunteer Fire Department. Attornies for the firefighters are seeking a declaratory judgment to determine whether a voluntary annexation plan approved by the Joplin City Council was filed in accordance with state law. The annexation plan involves 47 properties near Interstate 44 and East 32nd Street. In 1999 voters defeated Joplins attempt to involuntarily annex property that is now in question.
