Updated: January 7, 2009
Trial has begun for a Carthage man accused of the death of two area teens. The jury was selected today in the trial of 18-year-old Christopher Tomblin. The state also began presenting evidence in the case. Tomblin has pleaded not guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection to a fatal car accident on a County Road East of Jasper. 16-year old Anna Iles, and 17-year old Kelsey Ritchie, died from injuries suffered in the accident back in March. Officials believe Tomblin was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck. The trial is expected to continue throughout the week.
