Arrest Made in Hit & Run Incident

One man is in custody after a late night hit and run. The incident happened at 4th and St. Louis streets just after ten o`clock Tuesday night. Officers say the suspect hit a car at 206 St. Louis and then pulled over at the Conoco Convenience Store on Fourth Street. There the suspect went inside and asked to buy a tire. When the police arrived on the scene the man fled on foot. The man eluded authorities for nearly an hour, but was finally taken into custody. No one was injured in the accident. The suspect remains in custody in the Joplin city jail. Charges are expected to be filed.
