Noel, Missouri Has Highest Tax Rate

Sales tax in one McDonald County town is now the highest in the state of Missouri. A sales tax increase was passed by voters on Tuesday. The tax rate in Noel Missouri is going up to 8.3%. That rate will take affect beginning July. Local business owners in the town say they fear that the new tax rate will hurt their business. County officials say that voter turnout was extremely low on Tuesday. Only 11% of registered voters turned up at he polls.
