Ottawa County Lead-Level Lawsuit

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A $6-million dollar lawsuit has been filed in Ottawa County district court over lead levels in one Oklahoma community. The suit alleges health damage to a child with an elevated blood-lead level. William and Elizabeth Carr have named several former mining companies and one chat distributor as defendants. They claim negligence and creation of public and private nuisances by the companies. They say the companies did not take precautions to prevent lead poisoning of humans and the environment. This is the third lawsuit filed in Ottawa County over lead levels.
